They were born as normal light Y-Straps for use between Cavalry Troops, Heer Officers, Luftwaffe and Kriegsmarine due to the lack of need of these guys for carry big ammo pouches or backpacks, A-Frames, etc. All hooks and loops are made from aluminium which indicates an early production, ring and both rivets are steel made, (which is logical when you are improving them for carry heavy weights). Then by an order June 1943 these Y-straps were used only by personnel in the LW Felddivisionen, Paratrooper units or "Hermann Göring" Division, for this they got added extra carry straps and D loops. My pal Jim from Militaria Plaza sold recently an untouched set in mint condition without the extra straps and rings. Rare to find ones wartime modified.
