German Wehrmacht M35 NS68 1939 Ex Double Decal Adapted To M40 Specifications.

Wonderful and untouched helmet. Pins are unmolested and dated 39, reinforced aluminium liner band dated 1939, correct NS dome stamp dated 1939, correct C. A. Pocher decal being the original decal applied when the helmet was originally issued as a Double Decal M35. Studying the helmet carefully I found that instead of remove the eagle and apply a new one over the new textured paint, (this was made at factories when refurbishing old stock helmets, they were totally stripped off paint and decals and new paint and decals were applied), the refurbishing process was made surely at the field by the soldier owner of the helmet as it is handpainted by brush keeping the original decal. I can´t see traces of the national decal, so I guess the owner first removed the national decal and later painted the helmet with the new textured paint following all the new instructions of the Wehrmacht Kommandantur. Inside, the original early smooth and darker Feldgrau paint used on NS helmets is untouched. Chinstrap is original to the helmet looking the "silvered" leather of the loops, but no visible markings. It has an interesting feature as the buckle is steel, but the nail is made of aluminium. Same on the pins, one is steel and the other aluminium. Some damage and wear on the leather liner with one finger torn, but easily fixable. So, what we have here is a nice helmet used in Combat and not new from stock. Oh, I forgot to mention that it is a huge 68/61 size????!!!!! Wonderful helmet, believe me.
