German Wehrmacht Stielhandgranate M24 Kiste Stickgrenades Wood Box, Wonderful Condition W. Stencils And Label.

Really hard to find with an original label still in place, this is dated 16. 5. 1944. The 24 has been masked because a new fuzes box was used, the BZ39, that was typical, sometimes they stamped a 39, sometimes the stamped nothing, etc. One of the nicests wood box I have ever had, it has some holes from woodworm, (box has been treated against), but mainly inside on the cover, out has very few and box is total solid. It is of course complete with ALL the inner wood small blocks, often they are missing some or all of them, because boxes were used after war for store tools or whatever, that´s why many boxes today are missing the inner parts.
These boxes had no removable rack inside as the metal cases had, this is the last model of stickgrenades box introduced mid/late war around 1943 when Germans tried to save all extra effort and costs of production they were able to. The grenades were fitted inside one row over the other using the small wood blocks here and there as stoppers for avoid movement. Quite sure they put a big cardboard sheet between the two rows. The two lines at the bottom are because the boxes could be used for M24 or M43 stickgrenades, the M43 could be stored with the fuze already in place. German Engineering!!!!!!! And that´s why we love German stuff. I´m very sorry, but you are buying ONLY the wood box, the inert grenades are not included.
