German Wehrmacht Combat Gas Mask Set 1942/43 Named And Numbered For Rtr. Taschke 2621, Smooth End/Not Rolled Edge Can Variation.
We have a "Very Rare Bird" here on the can, the very few I have seen, (5 maybe), always have been without maker mark nor year on the spare lenses pocket lid and always 1944 on the closing device, also the inner sleeve painted in red lacquer, so always a mystery for me about the maker, but this one is clearly marked ayc 1942 having the red lacquer in the inner sleeve and the "no rim" base can. ayc was Wagner GMBH, Esslingen a.N. Go to your collection of gas and look for this can..... I bet you will not have it. I think in my life I would have seen, bought and sold around 200 cans, I collect gas, so I know what is scarce and what is common, this can is VERY SCARCE. The same with gas mask and filter makers, there are very common ones and rare ones, but I found the rarest is this model of can. It comes with its matching gas mask and filter, I have not touched the lenses, just added both filter plugs that were missing. So, we have a 100% complete set as usual.
