German Legion Condor/Spanish National Army Spanish Civil War Combat Gas Mask Set 1936 Dated And Named To Sargento Bermejo, Very Rare To Find.
I got a small collection of Gas Masks from an Ex Spanish Army High Rank Officer retired long time ago, he explained me that in the 70s the Army bases were full with tons, (literally), of German stuff arrived with the Legion Condor to the Spanish Civil War and from the 1943 BAR Program, this is the trading of Wolfram metal, (used for the hardcore high speed rounds), against German Equipment, Weapons, Tanks, etc. It is a well known history in Spain, then in the 80s to 90s most of the stuff was destroyed, sunken in the sea or sold to scrap yards. This man liked the Gas Masks, so he could save some of them. Most are untouched and missing only a lid or a cleaning cloth or retaining spring. But there are some rare and nice sets. This set, for example, is something you don´t see every day, even in Spain. This set came to Spain with the Legion Condor, Hitler´s help to Franco´s National Side, and then used by a National Army Sargento Bermejo, it is known that Spanish Troops served with the Germans together here, but until now I have never found something like this set. Very rare set and with a lot of history on it.
