A very interesting set, with its original reinforcement leather, that was inked stamped, but now really faint, this strap belonged to a gas mas can which received some extra paint for Camouflage. I have found brass straps in a 1940 dated cans as maximum, never on 1941 cans. Brass was strongly used by the Germans on many things before the war and at the beginning, but they had to change to aluminium due to it was cheaper and also lighter.
