Very hard to find a full and unopened one.... Well, in fact, very hard to find even empty. You can find the cardboard ones, but in Bakelite are very rare. Don´t expect to find the tablets inside anymore, the Losantin turns into powder after 80 years. Minty item, a must have for the Gas Collector.
History:
"The term "Yellow Cross detoxifying agents" refers to historical preparations used to decontaminate skin, clothing, or objects that had come into contact with Yellow Cross chemical warfare agents, (primarily Mustard Gas).
These agents served to neutralize the skin-damaging effects of chemical warfare agents. Because Yellow Cross agents are fat-soluble and penetrate deep into the skin, rapid chemical destruction of the poison immediately after contact was vital.
Main active ingredient (Losantin): The most common detoxifying agent used by the German Wehrmacht was Losantin. This consisted of Calcium Hypochlorite tablets or powder, which was mixed with water to form a paste in order to neutralize the chemical warfare agents through oxidation.
Soldiers often carried Losantin in distinctive flat, orange or brown Bakelite canisters, which were part of their personal gas protection equipment.
The name "Yellow Cross" derives from the yellow markings on the grenades containing these chemical warfare agents in World War I."
